    Time Event

Another day at the dog show
...also known as the auction. So guess who else besides Ralph now has a gold Saturn? His is much nicer, but I'm very happy with mine, and so will whoever ends up buying it from me. I'm getting more comfortable there, which is of course vital. However, I really need to branch out a bit - not only do they charge at least $95 to buy the car, 1600 cars is a surprisingly limited selection. I'll still be going for the forseeable future, though. I've also adapted, as I always do, and now the auction seems slow. I spent five hours there today. My legs are thus tired.

The auctioneers all say different things. One says "Bampadah bampadah bampadah" and another one says "Ing da-da-ding da-da-ding."

    Productive day
Ian and I went to the junkyard. We tried for 10 am, but hey, we made it for 11, so that's not bad. He was well helpful in pulling the parts I needed for my Saturn. For $61 I got enough stuff to fix the window problem, the door panel, the dome light, and a radio. All are now fixed. However, I had to walk around in the sun and step in puddles of engine oil. As you can imagine, I have a love/hate relationship with the junkyard.

So now the car needs the services of an expert upholsterer (me, your resident savant, after I get a book and some tools) to fix the whale-sprung seat. This car must've been owned by the king of the elephants before it went to the auction. Plus a spurious flashing light and a couple of other minor issues. I will advertise it as soon as I fix the seat, though. I needs me some money!! I'll probably buy more Saturns if this one sells well (quickly and at a nice markup). I'm very happy with this car, much happier than I was with the Caravan, which I already sold, or the Lincoln, which I would have sold if Autotrader didn't deem it "suspiciously low in price" and de-list it without bothering to tell me. I swear, I make no mistakes, ever. Everyone else is in charge of fucking up.

    Am I suspicious enough?
Wow, four posts in a day. That's a lot even for me. Anyway... I do not consider myself naive. I have sold two (personal) cars to out of state buyers with excellent results. However, this guy who called me around 12:15 between April 5/6 may be a scammer who thus far has hoodwinked me. He haggled the price a bit, and now he wants to send me a deposit via Western Union. Craigslist says:

    WARNING!! *** WARNING!! *** WARNING!! *** WARNING!!

Please be wary of distant "buyers" responding to your ad! Many sellers receive replies from scammers hoping to defraud them through schemes involving counterfeit cashier's checks and/or wire transfers. These checks will clear the bank, but the person cashing the check will be held responsible when the fraud is discovered. More info on scams can be found at this web address:

I guess I'll just check there. But it seems like I may have sold my Lincoln, despite Autotrader's best efforts to sabotage me.

    Current Mood: suspicious
